Mekaael: Think in your head right now, who is the greatest basketball player of all time? I think the majority of people would have said, Chicago Bulls legend, Michael Jordan. Over his career in the NBA Jordan won a total of six NBA championships, five Most Valuable Player awards, three All-Star MVPs, two Olympic gold medals, one defensive player of the year, and many more awards. With this great legacy his son, Marcus Jordan decided to create Trophy Room, which is a sneaker boutique which is named after Michael Jordan’s trophy room in his Chicago house. Along with having the store, due to Marcus’s direct connection to Jordan Brand, they were offered various collaborations between Trophy Room and Jordan Brand, the most notable being the Trophy Room Jordan 5’s, and now the Trophy Room Jordan 1’s.
The Trophy Room Jordan 1’s are a similar colorway to the Jordan 1 Chicago with a red and white contrast colorway, but the difference between the two pair is that the trophy room has somewhat of an icy hint to the red on the shoe and has a transparent sole with stars on it as a design, and finally, is number from one to twelve thousand. Now the reason we are here isn’t to discuss the sneaker itself, rather the corruptness related to this release of such a high demanded sneaker. Marcus Jordan has been bulk selling a huge amount of pairs to various resellers and sneaker stores for prices about retail in order to make more money from the pairs being sold. For example, various photos of world-renowned reseller Benjamin Kickz has been posting photos on his Instagram with hundreds of pairs before the release which shows how Trophy Room is favoring more money than consumer satisfaction, especially because this sneaker is iconic and many people who wanted the Chicago 1s weren’t able to get them. Being that the Trophy Room 1’s were such a limited release with there only being twelve thousand pairs compared to general releases averaging between thirty thousand and fifty thousand pairs per release, by giving other sellers pairs prior to the release for high is completely unjustified and ruins the point of releasing the sneakers in the first place, the nostalgia.
