Mekaael: During the year 2002 Nike had decided to expand their brand in a way that many didn’t expect. Nike had decided to start releasing skating shoes, the most famous being the Nike SBs. The nike SB was a specially designed version of ‘Dunks’ which were another shoe made by Nike which was released in 1985. In March of 2002 Nike released three different models, the lows, the mids, and the highs. The term ‘Nike SB’ stands for ‘Nike Skateboard’ and took the sneaker community by storm. Although the model was supposedly a skater shoe, many sneakerheads liked them and wore them a lot. This allowed Nike to keep releasing more and more SB. It got to the point where professional sports athletes were wearing them and Nike eventually decided to release a newer model of the Nike SB, called the Nike SB Dunk. The Nike SB dunk and Nike SB are extremely similar but there are minor details that are relative to each sport they were made for.
The Nike SBs went out of style in the 2010s and many other shoes were overshadowing it, such as newer model Jordans and Air Force 1s. Both the Jordan 1s and the AF1s had a much wider variety of colors and many sneakerheads who weren’t able to get their hands on the Nike SBs or Nike SB Dunk releases realized that it would be easier to try and buy the AF1s and AJ1s. This led to the Nike SB and SB Dunks going out of style.
In the last few years the sneaker industry has had some big changes. Firstly, Adidas has now truly become a competitor with Nike in the lifestyle side of the market with their recent comeup, Adidas Boost. Secondly, Nike Air Forces aren't hyped anymore and now only the classic colorways are reselling for high prices. Finally, Nike SB Dunks are on a comeback. The comeback of the Nike Dunks was caused by a few different factors. Firstly, there have been many different recent releases that combine the classic model of the Nike SB Dunk with modern shoe technology. Some examples are the “Strange Love” Nike SBs, “Strawberry Cough” Nike SBs, “Diamond” Nike SBs and many other examples. Various Nike SBs have increased in price by a large scale. Old Nike SBs that your parents had in their school days might be selling for hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars today. If you are looking to make a profit off of shoes or make some quick cash then definitely keep your eyes open for new releases of any colorway of Nike SBs.
