Mekaael: Our society is run by these pieces of paper that we call money. Money is what drives the majority of people and what keeps society going. Most people end up going to school, and then college to get a job which gets them the money they need to survive and live. Greed eventually takes over and now we live in a world where everyone wants to have as much money as they can. There are various ways of achieving the end goal of making millions, and today we are here to talk about a new concept that could possibly be the next Bitcoin; Earth 2, virtual reality real estate.
Now before you call me crazy, let me explain. Earth 2 is a recent company which is developing a virtual reality world which mirrors our planet in a 1:1 ratio, meaning that everything we see in real life will be replicated into this virtual reality world, the climate, the landmarks and all of the properties. The aim of the game is to eventually provide a virtual world where people can “ build, abide, trade, live, experience, interact and so much more.” This concept itself is something very interesting, but many may be confused as to how people will be able to make money from this game.
The game is released in three different phases. Earth 2 has released a map of the world with tiles on everything, and each tile represents a set amount of space. Each tile was initially worth $0.20 and people could purchase them, therefore making their tiles their virtual property. The property fluctuates in value based on how many people are purchasing other tiles in the same area or country. From there people are able to sell their property (if they want) once the property is worth more than what they purchased for, resulting in them making money. The property one purchases is what their property is once the game fully releases and the VR part of the game is implemented. The second phase of the game is that people will receive more online currency based on if their virtual property produces natural resources, for example if someone owns a gold mine located in South Africa, then they will receive virtual currency for the amount of gold their mine produces. The third and final phase is to release the whole game. This would allow people to properly travel through the world in virtual reality, being able to see other people, visit their properties, travel the world to places one isn’t able to go to in real life.
Despite the money making side of this game sounding good on paper, there are a few red flags that I have noticed since investing in Earth 2. Firstly, there is an extreme amount of market fluctuation which is uncalled for. After someone else purchases a large amount of tiles in the same country or area that I have already purchased in, the value skyrockets, resulting in me trying to sell my tiles, but when I check ten to fifteen minutes later, the price crashes all the way back down. The second red flag is that when selling your tiles, you aren’t able to sell them immediately, you can only place them up for bidding, which could take minutes to sell, but on the opposite side of the spectrum, could also not sell. Aside from those issues, I encourage you to take a look and consider investing as tiles are running out, so get them while they are cheap! The website is linked here - Earth 2
